All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) was set up in November, 1945 with a view to stimulate, coordinate and control the provisions of Educational facilities and industrial development of the post war period. Accordingly, AICTE Act, 1987 was passed by the Parliament with a view to ensure proper planning and coordinated development of the Technical Education System throughout the Country, qualitative improvement of such Education in relation to the planned quantitative growth and the Regulation and proper maintenance of norms and standards in the Technical Education System and for matters connected therewith.
